I've been a follower of a few blogs for a while now, and was finally inspired to start my own! What gave me the final nudge, you ask? Well, I went to the theatre today with one of my friends and saw the movie, "Julie & Julia."
If you're not familiar, this movie is based on the true story of a woman, Julie Powell, who started her blog "The Julie/Julia Project" to track her progress on her quest to complete all of the recipes from Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking." I read the book a few years ago and thought it was humorous, quirky and quite endearing. I liked the backstory on Julia Child as much as I enjoyed hearing about Julie's (often disasterous) attempts at cooking....maybe it's because I've had a few of my own???
Anyway, I don't have any high hopes that my blog will turn into the vast success of that of Julie Powell or of Heather Armstrong of
www.dooce.com. But, rather, I plan to use this blog to track the ordinary moments of life that are so easy to forget or gloss over. And that's what made me think of my blog title...."Recipe of Life."......because, isn't it the ordinary moments that often build and add up to become the master recipe? The ordinary might not be the star ingredient, but, it's essential.....call it the salt and pepper. So, here's to tracking those salt & pepper moments! Bon appetit!
